If he died in 2023 and you haven’t remarried file jointly. Use your name first and his second. You will see that you can check the box that he died and enter the date of death.

The IRS instructions for Form 1040 and 1040-SR say the following.

"If you filed a joint return for 2022 and you are filing a joint return for 2023 with the same spouse, be sure to enter your names and SSNs in the same order as on your 2022 return."

There is a check box for "passed away before filing this return" for either person on a joint return.
