Wait until IRS is open for E-File before you SUBMIT your return with an AGI of $1.
If TurboTax says REJECTED now, it is probably for some other reason.
Did you and your spouse file separate returns for 2020? If you filed a joint return then the AGI for 2020 is the same for both of you and it is on line 11 of your 2020 Form 1040.
IRS opens for processing on January 24.
You can efile now, this was done thru turbo tax. The official date is 24th but they are accepting early efile now and rejecting it is for the specific reason of the $1 AGI they told me to use being wrong not because it’s too early.
I filed in 2020 single- we were not married yet, and he did not file at all, only used the non filer tool when the stimulus check thing happened. The turbo tax assist popped up and told me to enter $1 if that’s all he did but it is rejecting it. I’m positive he didn’t file or have income so now I tried $0 instead, we’ll see. It’s just odd that it specifically told me to use that for that reason & now it’s wrong
You can efile now, this was done thru turbo tax & they will at least accept or reject until official processing starts. The question has nothing to do with when that date comes
The IRS themselves have issued instructions to use $1 for people who did not file a tax return, but did use the non-filing stimulus tool last year.
Could be an issue that their (or Turbotax's) computer system isn't set up quite right for folks who were single in 2020, but married in 2021, and have this type of complicated AGI situation.
