It is our first time filing jointly and I am confused as to whether or not my husband and I need to file two separate tax returns or jut one. The form 1040 has my name on it next to my husband's but the confirmation emails from Turbo tax are addressed to him and I find this confusing. If filing jointly, does the married couple files twice or just once? Any clarity on the question is appreciated. Thank you!

When you file a joint tax return you prepare and file ONE tax return that is for both of you. ALL of the information about your incomes, credits and deductions, dependents, etc. goes on that ONE tax return. If your spouse filed under his TurboTax account with his email then that is why the confirmation came to his email address. The tax refund will have both of your names on it.
If the two of you are confused--did you enter all of the income from both of you on that return--not just both names?
