If my 1099-R doesn't have anything in box 7, what do I do? It's from long term disability.

You would have to ask the issuer of the form for a code, as the code in box 7 is critical to determine how the distribution is taxed.

something seems wrong. there is no sick pay box on form 1099-R. there is a box 13 for sick on form W-2.

 

 

if it is a 1099-R there should be a code in box 7. Turbotax will not accept leaving box 7 blank

 

 

disability payments are taxable if your employer paid premiums and did not include in wages (line 1) 

or paid by you for which you obtained a tax deduction.

 

Non-taxable premiums paid by the taxpayer that were not deducted, including after-tax contributions to an employer-sponsored plan and employer-paid contributions if taxed to the employee.
