Are you referring to needing the 2023 AGI to verify your 2024 return for efiling?  That's what I will assume.

 

Were you already married last year and filed a joint return in 2023?    This answer will assume that.

 

First attempt:

You both would use the same total 2023 AGI from last year's 2023 joint return--even if the spouse had no income last year.  Use the original 2023 return to get the 2023 AGI--not an amended one.   Do not split the AGI.

 

If that first attempt were to be rejected because of an AGI issue, then try this for the second attempt:

Total 2023 AGI for you (assuming you are primary filer)

2023 AGI of 0 (zero) for the spouse

 

There is a third possibility if both of those fail.  So report back if necessary.

 

Also, if you were not married last year, you would each use your own 2023 AGI from your separate returns.
