If I worked a new job last 2 weeks of 2018, but check was cut on January 4 2019 do I have to file that this year?

That check cut on Jan 4, 2019 will be on a W-2 for the 2019 tax year.

It will be reported on that return (2019) and not in 2018 and you will get no W-2 until next year.
