If I started this for myself but need to file married filing jointly do I start over or continue and will have the option before I finish?

You do not need to start over to change your filing status.  You can go back into the My Info section of the return (menu option on the left) and edit your marital status. Once you click on My Info, on the Personal Info Summary page, click on the pencil next to your marital status and you will be able to edit on the next page.
