That happened to a number of people. When you prepare your 2020 return in 2021 you will get a chance to get the $500 for your dependent. The stimulus money sent in 2020 was an advance on a credit that you can get on your next tax return.

Will your dependent be UNDER age 17 (no older than 16) at the end of 2020? If not they don't qualify.
