Only the IRS (or state) can tell you. Maybe they rejected your payment? How did you pay it? Your only proof of payment is your bank or credit card statement showing it coming out. Turbo Tax does not pay it. They only send your bank info to the IRS or state for them to pull it out of your account.
Or the IRS adjusted your return and you owe more. Or you have an underpayment penalty for owing too much or paying late.
I received a bill from Turbo Tax for $25+ for 2024 for my state return. WHY?? I can't talk to a human because apparently there aren't any! I called numerous times. ROTTEN CUSTOMER SERVICE. I don't need a copy of my state return, I have one. Why is this being sent to me?
To find out why TurboTax billed you, if you are using TurboTax Online, sign in to your TurboTax account and navigate to "Tax Home."
Scroll down to find "Your tax returns & documents," select the current tax year, and click "View order details" to see your payment summary. Bills often occur if you opted to pay fees using your refund, but the payment failed or the refund was delayed.
If you need additional assistance, see this help article for instructions on how to contact TurboTax customer support. Support is staffed until midnight Pacific time on April 15th.
