If I pay additional child support each paycheck for the filing tax year, should I dispute an offset from the child support agency?

I owe back child support from when I wasn’t working. My son is 8yrs old I’ve been paying for 8 years. I live in a different state so my options to see a judge for adjustments are lessened. Now I’m paying additional child support out of my checks for the dept owed to the his mother.

Unfortunately, as long as you have an arrearage, your refund will be offset to satisfy the arrearage.  Even though you are paying extra now, it will not help with the offset.
