Wait---you have been working and "paying in to taxes" since 2011 but you have not filed a tax return   --"hadn't done taxes" ------in all of that time?  Why not?    And how do you know you did not owe for any of those years if you did not prepare a tax return?  How do you know you "paid in" enough?

TurboTax can only be used for the tax years from 2016 to the present.  Each tax year requires the software specifically written for that year, so you would have several programs to purchase to get caught up.  Only a 2019 return can be prepared with the online program.

To file a return for a prior tax year

If you need to prepare a return for 2016, 2017, or 2018 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign,  and mail the return(s)

Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Note:  The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac.  It cannot be used on a mobile device.

It is possible to get the paper forms for 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 from the IRS and prepare them by hand.

You cannot get a tax refund for any tax year earlier than 2016.  Earlier tax refunds have been forfeited if you did not file on time.

If you are getting a refund, there is not a penalty for filing past the deadline.  If you owe taxes, the interest/penalties will be calculated by the IRS based on how much you owe and when they receive your return and payment. The IRS will bill you for this; it will not be calculated by TurboTax.

However,  you must have kind of a mess if you have been working and not filing tax returns for so many years.  It would really be better for you to get help from a good tax professional who can help you sort it all out.  (Not a seasonal storefront tax place).

Did you pay the $534 tax due on your 2011 return?  Or do you still owe it?  If you didn't pay it they will take it out if any refunds you get.
