If I owe, 2018 taxes wouldn't it show up at the end of Turbo Tax calculations etc? Second, If I file an extension, can I pickup where I left off?

Yes. Actually, you'd see your balance or refund as you enter information in TurboTax, in the upper left-hand corner. See the screenshots below.

And yes, if you file for an extension, you can pick up in TurboTax where you left off when you are ready to finish. Just make sure that you do that before the extended deadline, 10/15/2019.
