If I have only 1099-R, why do I have to upgrade to TurboTax Live Deluxe?

If I have no other Schedules other than 1099-R, why should I upgrade to Live Deluxe?

A 1099-R for a Retirement Distribution is not a separate schedule that would necessarily require you to upgrade to Live Deluxe.

The 'Live' option gives you access to ask for help as you go along, but you are not required to take it.

If you started in TurboTax Live, you can clear your return and start over as long as you haven’t paid yet.  After clearing your return, you can select the TurboTax product that best suits your needs.

If you started in a different TurboTax product but added TurboTax Live, You can remove TurboTax Live as long as you haven't used the Tax Expert feature. Here's what to do:

  1. With your tax return open, select File.
  2. Proceed through the screens until you reach the Just a few steps left... screen, then select Start or Revisit next to Step 1: Review Your Order.
  3. On the order summary screen, select Downgrade.

Here's more detailed info about How to Remove TurboTax Live.

What did you get the1099R for?  If you took a distribution and are under 59 1/2 there us a 10% Early Withdrawal Penalty which goes on Schedule 2 so you would need Deluxe.
