If I have already downloaded my 2016 1099 tax data from Merrill Lynch, and then get a notification about updated tax statements, can i download just the updates?

If i re-run the download, will the process a) be smart enough to only download the data that has changed (i.e. additions, changes and/or deletions?, b) download all data again, being smart enough to not duplicate the data from the previous download, or c) should any subsequent updates be done manually?

You should re-import the data from Merrill Lynch, and simply delete the original import.  The latest revised 1099-B should be completely accurate.  

My brokerage firm consistently issues a revised 1099-B, so I've learned to wait until April to import my info and e-file the return.
