If i have a number that automatically transferred from 2017 turbotax to my 2018, what does that mean? It's a neg number from business income that we closed in 2017.

Hi there. It could very well be a net operating loss that carried forward from 2017.

For detailed information on Net Operating Losses (NOLs) for Individuals, Estates, and Trusts, please refer to IRS Publication 536 (2018).

To locate the form in TurboTax, you may use the jump to feature to skip directly to that section of your tax return.

• Click on the Search field in the top-right corner (see screenshot below)
• Type in the keyword  - for instance, NOL
• Press Enter
• Select the jump to option from the list of results.
