If I had my returns rejected because I put in the wrong EIN number, now the program says I cannot do an amended file through E file. I can only mail in. Is this true?

If I had my returns rejected because I put in the wrong EIN number, now the program says I cannot do an amended file through E file. I can only mail in. Is this true?
If your return was rejected, you should be able to fix the return (by updating the EIN # with the correct number) and then resubmit your return for e-file. You won't need to amend your return because there was never an original return submitted. If you entered the correct EIN# or don't have the number and the return continues to reject when it is resubmitted, you will need to paper-file your original return by printing, signing and mailing it to IRS.
