No. Just the Online web version will close. You can keep using the Desktop CD/Download program. But you can only efile until Oct 15. After that you will have to print and mail.

So sorry for your loss. No, the desktop (CD/download) software for your 2019 return will not freeze up and stop working. But after October 15, 2020 you will not be able to e-file the return, so you will have to print, sign and mail it instead of e-filing it.
You do know that you can still file a joint return, right? You say your spouse died recently.

In My Info, you will need to indicate that your spouse died. When his name is in My Info, there is a screen early in the interview that asks "Do any of these apply to [name] ?’” where you will do that, and then a drop down will appear where you can enter the date he passed.
