The IRS will not do anything to your refund as a result of your son's delinquent child support, nor will they take away the $500 credit you get for claiming him.
When/if he files his own tax return, HIS refund can be seized for the child support.
His debt will not affect your tax liability. To claim him you have to provide more than half of his support and his income must be less than $4,400.
