If I choose to purchase the downloadable version, I get 5 federal e-files. Does this mean that both my spouse and I can file separately or are all 5 e-files only "mine"?

To explain more clearly, if my spouse and I are filing separately as opposed to jointly, can she use one of the 5 e-files?

Yes, if you and your wife choose to file Married Filing Separately, you can each use one of the five federal e-files included with the TurboTax CD/Download software.  For returns with multiple states, you can e-file up to three (3) states per federal return; the rest must be paper-filed (which probably isn't a big deal, as many nonresident state returns can't be e-filed anyway).
