If I am signed in, and using the online version, why do I have to register before filing? What am I registering for?

No, I'm not trying to access the prior year's return. I am just trying to "pay" (I am using the free online edition), hopefully review the pdf file, and then e-file both the federal and state returns.

Any help is appreciated, even if it is just letting me know what I am registering/signing up for. Thank you!

I believe it is because the IRS requires that we verify your email prior to e-filing.

What if I'm having trouble with my filing verification code?

Thank you, Karen. Per my Intuit account, my email is all ready verified. However, I will just register and go with it. I'm not waiting any longer to file my taxes.

The registration is giving permission to TurboTax to prepare your taxes and efile them or allow you to print and mail them.
