if you were a self-employed contractor and received a 1099-NEC, there is no requirement to file if your 1099-NEC / Schedule C income was less than $400.
If you wish to file a 2022 tax return,
you may have to use some other tax software that will e-File your return when it is not required to do so.
If you do not have any taxable income being reported on your federal tax return the it cannot be e-filed. However, you can add $1 of interest income so that the return can be e-filed.
On the Form 1099-INT for received from use any name, in block 1 of the form enter $1,
To report interest income received -
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home & Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home & Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on
Under Interest and Dividends
On Interest on 1099-INT, click on the start or update button
Or enter interest income in the Search box locate in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to interest income
