If I am getting married later this year, can I change my W-4 status to married now?
Since I am getting married in June, can I just update my W-4 now? I don't really see a reason to wait.

However, if the wedding doesn't come off as planned, remember to change it back.

You can change your W-4 any time at all. The charts are just a guide, so that you don't have too much owed (or refunded) at the end of the year. This is particularly important when you have several sources of income, like rentals, part-time employment, etc. You need to be very aware of what you will be liable for in Calendar year 2016, so that you don't underpay though.

Yeah, that is what I am struggling with now. I am currently at 2 allowances (no dependents), but am thinking of switching to married with single withheld limits and changing my number to 1. I'd rather over compensate and get a fat refund rather than under compensate and have an underpayment penalty. I saw on one of the threads to do a test run with 2015 taxes this year and see what it comes out with.
