Michigan does not use an PIN for the state return. The State of Michigan’s processing system randomly selects returns for review. All returns are equally subject to being selected for review. If you are contacted BY MAIL, you can go online and verify your identity, If the taxpayer has a government issued identification card or driver’s license, they can provide such information to help process their returns more quickly. @joseph3063
