If got divorced mid year last year and changed my name, should I do my filing under my former or current name?
You should file your tax return using whatever name you have on file with the Social Security Administration. If you notified Social Security after your divorce, and your changed name is on your Social Security card, that is the name you should use. If you have not yet made that change, use your former name. The IRS uses the Social Security database to match names and SSNs.
