I worked for the same company in two different states. After I filled in my w2 numbers on TurboTax it shows I didn't pay taxes in my second state, but I did, why?

Please help

Does your W-2 show state tax withheld for both states on your W-2 boxes 15-17? Both states should be listed.

If yes, revisit the Income section to make sure your entries are correct.

Login to your TurboTax Account

  1.  Select Federal from the left menu
  2.  Click Wages and Income then Income and Expenses
  3.  Select review next to Job (W-2).
  4.  Click Edit next to the W-2 and review your entries.

If your employer didn't withhold any taxes from the second state, contact them and let them know so you won't have the same issue next year. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do now, you have to pay the amount due on the state tax return.

I have a similar problem but I do have withholding with the second state.  My problem is:  where, in TurboTax, do I put in the second state tax withholding?

No problem. The second state withholding does on your W-2 for the same employer, simply select the box to 'Add a state' and enter the second state information.  If you don't happen to have a state ID for one of the states you can always use the federal ID without any dash.

Right under Box 15 there is Add another line.  Click that and add second state.
