I worked as a independent contractor last year until september then i stopped and became a para educator in a school. do i file both and how do i do that?

Yes, you file both.  If the para educator work was paid as though you were an employee than you would enter the W2 for that work.  If the para educator work was paid as though you were independent, then you can include that with your other independent contractor work as a self employed person.

Please use these steps to enter your W2 (if applicable):

  • In the search box, upper right, type w2 > Jump to w2
  • Continue to follow the screens to enter your W2

Please use these steps to enter your independent contractor work (Schedule C).  This will require an upgrade to TurboTax Self Employed. TurboTax will walk you through the upgrade and retain your data. Click the images attached to enlarge and view for assistance.
