I was told to delete my state filing to file for federal and state separately. How to file for state now?

When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state. See screenshot

This will take you back to the 2018 online tax return.

Select State from the menu on the left (on mobile devices, tap in the upper-left corner to open the menu).
On the Let's get your state taxes done right screen, select Continue and follow the onscreen instructions.
