Will turbo tax for 2018 run on an iMac using OS 10.11.6?

No. Next year you will need Sierra (10.12) or higher.

I was told by customer service last year that 2018 would work on Mac os10.11, so purchased and installed it. Now it wont work! It wants to install an update, then closes.

Can you update your OS, or are you like me, with a mid 2011 mac that can't upgrade beyond El Capitan? Not replacing a perfectly good Mac just because Turbotax says I need to.

Technically, they didn't lie. I could install it, it just wouldn't run after I did.
