I was married to my ex wife most of the year and got divorced and got remarried do I claim my ex wife or my new one?

For tax purposes, the spouse you can choose to file with for your 2016 return is the one you were married to on 12/31/2016.

You could be married to spouse nearly the whole year, and then marry spouse #2 on 12/31.

Only that one day- 12/31/16- counts towards the tax marriage question.

If you weren't actually married on 12/31/16, then you are not married at all for 2016 tax purposes.
