I was married in 2018, did not change my last name with the social security office until January 2019. Do I need my employer to send me a new W2 with my new legal name?

The name on your tax return and the name on the W-2 do not have to match, only the Social Security numbers need to be the same.

Make sure that you are using the name that is on your current Social Security card on your tax return.
