I was hired for one event in 2017 where they paid me $250. Is this taxable income?

It was a facepainting gig and they had me fill out a w-9 for my "business" (it's just me)

Yes this could be considered taxable income. You will need to file it on a Schedule C. You will be able to deduct any expenses you had as well. To get to the Schedule C:

1. Login to your TurboTax Account

2. Click Continue Your Return

3. On the top right corner of the screen you will see My Account, click My Account

4. Click Tools

5. Click Topic Search

6. In the Search box you can type in 'Schedule C', when this appears in the search result, highlight it and click go

7. Follow the interview questions
