I was deployed to Afghanistan do I still have to pay state taxes

State taxes in the military very depending on what state you declare as residence I was from Illinois during my service and payed no state taxes during my time in service. You will need to look up your state to find out if you do or not. I don't believe being deployed overseas has any affect.
