You should have downgraded before filing----if you already e-filed, your conversation with customer support will be a difficult one.
No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue. If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help. Do not use the word “refund.”

I was charged also and I NEVER need online expert advice, and I’ve been doing my own taxes for over 30 years, and help moms in kitchen file the paper returns for friends and family for extra cash in high school; SO I KNOW I DO NOT NEED NO HELP! I said no to any extra so the system now was upgrading us to higher prices on their own!
Yuuuuup. Having that same issue. I got to the end where I was selecting where my deposit would go, realized it was on there and looked up how to downgrade but because I've already "submitted" my payment (I haven't even pressed the file button yet), I can't restart my form and I'm just... stuck.
The same thing happened to me. I did not request their Expert Assist garbage service nor did I use it. I saw no way to choose the DIY option at the beginning and the system would not let me "downgrade" to the version I wanted.
I tried calling their help line but the person claimed they could do nothing to fix it.
I too was charged an the person assisting me was very rude, she didn’t know what she was talking about and I had to tell her multiple times that she got the wrong fee which was $70 on top of the $80. She claimed to process the refund to my original payment method but I test nothing she says. I’m never filing with these people ever again.
So scummy, it did this to me, too.
Edit: But, apparently I needed it anyway to import my stock and crypto trades. They jacked up the price to an insane $200. Last time it was something like $80
Found where to change it Under Tools > Switch Products
I too was charged for "TurboTax Online Expert Assist Premium 2025". I didn't request this. They are automatically making us use that expensive product.

I was using the TurboTax app and it was showing expert at the bottom and there was no option to switch. I actually went out of the app and signed in through turbotax.com. once I signed in that way, there are 3 lines to the left at the top beside the the check mark. I clicked there and that's where I saw the option to downgrade. It worked. I went back to the app version to make sure. It updated. I hope this helps.
Almost had this happen to me as well.
I guess Turbo Tax is trying to scam people now! I couldn’t figure out how to remove the online expert for through the app. I found the only option is to login through the website and from there you can go to the tools page and select switch product, then you can downgrade to the free version from there.
What a scam!
