If you are receiving a message in TurboTax that your ITIN has expired, ignore the message. The TurboTax program is looking at the middle two numbers of the ITIN and comparing those numbers to ITIN's that were issued prior to 2013, which is incorrect.
You would need to call the IRS at 800-829-1040 to find out why your ITIN expired. We have no way of checking or seeing that information.
If you filed a return, it should not have expired, unless possibly it had expired prior to your filing the return or your return was rejected. An ITIN is good as long as you don't go for more than 3 years without filing a return, so if that was the first in more than 3 years that you filed, you would need to reactivate your ITIN. You can reactivate your ITIN by submitting W-7 and any other required documents to
