I want to pay my federal taxes by having the amount taken out of my bank account. When I get to the filing section it's telling that's not an option. Why????

"The direct debit option is not available to you."  This is the message I'm getting.

Are you mailing in your return?  You won't see a direct debit option in TurboTax if you owe IRS taxes and are paper-filing, but you can use the IRS's Direct Pay service, which lets you pay your taxes directly out of your checking or savings account—just like direct debit. 

There's no cost for using IRS Direct Pay. Here's what you do:

1. In TurboTax, select the option Pay by check when asked how you want to pay your taxes
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to print a paper copy of your return
   • Throw out (or better yet, recycle) the 1040-V voucher that prints out. You won't need it
3. Go to the IRS Direct Pay site and follow the instructions to submit your payment
