I want to know do I owe taxes?

No one can see your tax return so we cannot tell you if you owe.  What does it say in your account?   Do you see a tax due amount on line 37 of your Form 1040?   We do not know if you are in a state with state income tax so we cannot give you a line number to look at on your state return but if you look it over it should be pretty obvious somewhere near the bottom of the form.

If you owe tax due, you have to pay it yourself by the filing deadline on April 15, 2026.

 If you have federal tax due you can pay by mailing your payment with the 1040V voucher, (which has the address printed on it, having the payment taken out of a designated bank account, or you can pay directly on the IRS website.

If you want to know if you will owe taxes for the year 2025, prepare your return in TurboTax and it will show the amount owed or amount to be refunded.

If you are wondering it you still owe the IRS for a previous year, you can find out online using the IRS Online Account for Individuals.

If you're a new user, have your photo identification ready. More information about identity verification is available on the sign-in page. You can use this Online Account to:

• View key tax return information, including your adjusted gross income, and access transcripts or tax compliance report
• Check the status of your refund or amended return
• View digital notices from the IRS
• View your audit status (currently available for certain audits conducted by mail)
