If you work for a large company, they may make the W2s available online for import, youd have to ask them.
You need to wait for the W2 to actually FILE the return, you can use the YTD figures on the final stub to get an idea of where you stand though.

THIS WAS TRUE in 2016!  TRUE in 2017!.  and given the number of taxpayers now in February, 2019, asking what to do now that they discover they did not include a tax info form now received or that their W-2 was not the same as their last paycheck - EVEN MORE TRUE in 2018!

WRITTEN IN 2016 - so just make adjustment for the year - same every year: As has already been said, W-2s will likely start showing up in the next week, if the employer did n1ot include it in the last 2016 paycheck.  Also if the employer or the payroll service that does your payroll makes the W-2 data available, you will be able to import/download it into ruboTax when it is available. Certainly, you can start entering all the various personal data that you have, and if you want to try to guess what your Form W-2 will look like and also any Forms 1099 that you might receive, such as Interest Income, feel free to do so for ESTIMATION purposes only.

However, read this post to learn why others have found it to be a very serious mistake to go ahead and submit your filing before you have gotten all your W-2s and 1099s.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/3405630

Read what folks who filed in a hurry had to say last December and January.READ THIS: https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/3405630

Why TurboTax even mentions January 3 is a real doozer of a question because it makes no sense, and in fact is apparently untrue as well!   Once they do open for submittal, apparently on January 4th, they will stick your filing in a vault where it will gather dust until the IRS opens on January 23, 2017.

No point rushing it turns out!!!!  And lots to lose too in fact

Once TT has it and holds it, you can't make any changes to it either...it gets filed AS IS.  So if there's a mistake or something is missing and you send it to TT before Jan 23rd.  You wont be able to make any changes or corrections unless IRS rejects it, then you can correct and resend, or you're stuck filing an amended return which can take months to complete processing!

Employers have until Jan 31 to make W-2 forms available, or to mail them to you.
