How do I file an IRS extension (Form 4868) in TurboTax Online?
Open your return in TurboTax Online. (To do this, sign in to TurboTax and select Pick up where you left off).
Select File an extension at the bottom of the column on the left side of the screen. ...
Follow the onscreen instructions to e-file your extension.
I received an answer to the above question of:
Log into Turbo Tax and Select "Pick Up where you left off" then Select File An Extension on the bottom of the column on the left side of the screen...Follow the onscreen instructions to e-file your extension.
When I selected Pick up where you left off - it did not offer the option to file an extension. I had started trying to enter the info off my 1099-Misc Income form, but only have the income info - have not gathered the other info that would qualify as deductions (Rent, etc...) which is why I want to file the extension.
When I clicked "Pick up where you left off" - it takes me to a page that says, "Let's make sure the details we added match your 1099-MISC form. Then in a box below it says "Update any fields that are not correct. Confirm that empty boxes on your form are blank below."
When you scroll down the options are only " 1099-MISC info is correct" or you click the BACK
button.
I will have deductions, I just don't know what they are at the moment - which is why I want to extend.
Do I have to delete any/all info I entered re: my 1099, so the option to extend will appear?
