If your return is rejected for a wrong name and social
security number, TurboTax can't get the return to go through until the information matches the IRS records. Make sure to check the spelling of the last name and the
SSN. If there is more than one last name, make sure to try both and see if the other will go through. The IRS uses the information from the SSA (Social Security Administration). If you have already verified your information with the SSA and it is correct, you can still file your return by mailing in a paper return for this year.
To file a paper return in TurboTax, you will need a
printer and Adobe
Reader
- Sign in to your TurboTax
Online account.
- Select File
- Continue through the
interview until you get to the screen Let’s get ready to
e-file and select File by mail
- If the File
by mail option isn’t available, you probably previously selected to
pay your TurboTax fees through your tax refund. In order to file by mail,
you’ll need to pay with a credit or debit card (or use the Free Edition
of TurboTax).
- Once you have changed your
payment method to credit or debit card, follow the onscreen instructions
to print your return.
