I used IRS Direct Pay last April to pay estimated taxes due. TurboTax does not include it on the 1040 nor will it let me enter it manually. Is there a fix for this?

TT recognizes the amount paid

Your extension gave you extra time to prepare your 2018 tax return documents.  It did not give you extra time to pay.  If you did not pay your estimated 2018 tax due by April 15, 2019 then when the IRS receives your 2018 return and your payment, they will calculate your penalty/interest and bill you later.  TurboTax will not calculate the penalty or interest.

You have until October 15, 2019 to e-file your 2018 tax return.  After that, e-filing for 2018 will be shutting down, and a 2018 return will have to be printed, signed and mailed instead.  The online software will also be shutting down, so if you are not finished preparing your 2018 return by then, you will have to download desktop software to a full PC or Mac to finish the return.

When you requested your extension you were supposed to pay your estimated tax due.  Did you enter the payment you made into your tax return?  Go to Federal>Deductions and Credits>Estimates and Other Taxes Paid>Other Income Taxes  This will show up on line 17 of your Form 1040

Thank you for your reply! Yes, I followed all the steps you indicated in your last paragraph to enter the amount of the estimated tax paid. It's all for 2018 federal extension payment. The amount is there in TT, but it does not show up on line 17 of the 1040, nor is there a Schedule B produced. And the software will not let me manually input the amount on the 1040 Form.

It would show up on Schedule 5 and then on line 17 of your Form 1040

@xmasbaby0  & @kemacf   For estimated tax us is entered as Estimates not other taxes.  It should go to Schedule 5 line 66 and then to the 1040 line 17.  Other taxes only if paid with an extension.  If paid with an extension then it is on Schedule 5 line 71 and 1040 line 17.

Go to Federal>Deductions and Credits>Estimates and Other Taxes Paid>Estimates

Thank you, macuser_22. The taxes were paid with filing extension form 4868 - I used the word "estimated" since I did not have all my numbers available at that time. So yes, line 71 of Schedule 5 and on line 17 of the 1040, but TT won't let me do that for some reason. So I guess I'll have to speak to customer support tomorrow as xmasbaby0 suggested.

@kemacf - You have not indicated if you are using the online or CD.download desktop version.  If the desktop version you can switch to the forms mode and view the "Tax payments worksheet" line 9 (2018 extensions).  The value you entered in the interview should be there and you can also manually enter on that line in the forms mode.  (online you can only print all forms and worksheets to view that worksheet).

macuser_22, thank you so much!! I'm using the CD download version, and had previously gone into Forms mode in an attempt to enter the information manually, but had never studied the Tax Payments Worksheet. Everything is correct now!
