I try to efile my Missouri state refund. Says I can't efile cuz long form 1040

A state tax return cannot be e-filed unless the federal return has been accepted.   There are still a lot of federal and state forms that are not ready this early in the tax season.   And since the IRS will not begin to accept e-files until January 24, there is no reason to rush.
