I tried filing last night, but could not get past step 3 of actually filing it. I filed an extension to be safe (approved), but am not sure if I paid. How can I tell?

When I tried to file, I got to the point of entering my driver's license and the date, but the program kept rejecting the date as incorrect (4/15/2019, even though I did it last night around 10pm. I filed an extension out of concern and filled in my bank information for payment of the federal tax I owe. I received notification that my extension was approved, but how can I be sure that my tax was paid on time?

You can check to see if your direct debit has been made to the IRS by viewing your account on the IRS website:

https://www.irs.gov/payments/view-your-tax-account.  Click on the "Create or View Your Account" link.
