I thought the only the to file a 1099-misc was to get turbotax deluxe ?

I thought the only the to file a 1099-misc was to get turbotax deluxe ?
Yes. The 1099-MISC entry will require TurboTax Deluxe to file so that you can include Schedule C-EZ. Then, if you have any expenses related to your coaching income, the program will prompt you to upgrade to TurboTax Self Employed because with expenses, you'll need the Schedule C.
However, to qualify for free 2017 federal and state tax returns in Freedom Edition, you'll need to meet one of these requirements:
- Your 2017 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is $33,000 or less
- You qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
- In 2017, you served as active duty military (including Reservists and National Guard) with a maximum AGI of $66,000, and you have a military-issued W-2
