I thought I filed tax by mailing according to turbotax's recommendation while I was sick, I want to file another one to be sure

Hi,

Like the title stated, I thought I have filed taxes by mailing. But months have passed, I still didn't receive the money. So I want to file tax again before the deadline.

Last time when I try to file tax, turbotax won't let me do e-file. I have to mail while I was very sick.

Anyone can help?

Well you either printed and mailed it or you didn't.  You would know if you actually mailed it.  Turbo Tax doesn't mail it for you.  Did you get a tracking number from the post office when you mailed it?

Sorry the IRS has limited staff due to Covid-19.  They just started opening the mail in June that's been stacking up. So you have to keep waiting.

If you haven't mailed it yet you can try to switch to efile.

Click on Add a State to let you back into your retun.

If you printed and mailed your return yourself, the IRS should have it. They are way behind in processing mailed returns. Millions of them are still unprocessed and sitting in stacks in the regional IRS offices. They are making progress but haven't said when they will be caught up.

You tax return is filed on time if it was mailed prior to the filing deadline which is July 15. The filing date is the date you mailed it.

If you are getting a refund and the IRS has opened your return and started processing it, you can track the status at the IRS tracking web site: https://www.irs.gov/refunds

You can try calling the IRS but it's very difficult to get through and they won't know anything about your return if they haven't opened it from the stack of unprocessed returns yet.

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

According to your web page, it would take four weeks to get re-fund if you mail it.

But I mailed mine in March, it's July now!

I forgot how to check on turbotax, but I do believe, my status for tax re-fund has been changed into received.

To make sure I get the refund, how do I file it again?

Do not mail it again or efile.    They just started opening the mail that has been stacking up in trailers. You have to keep waiting.
