I switched from married jointly to separately and then back

Now it says I owe the Feds 1600, I only owed 400 before the switch. State Refund went from 500 back to 300 back

Switching filing statuses messes up all the calculations. You will have to go through your complete tax return again once you settle on a filing status and recheck all the entries.
