I started filing taxes but my dad wants to claim my son since we have lived with him all year can he still claim him even though I started to file but never finished?

Yes, since yo have not filed your return yet, your dad is able to claim the dependent on his return. You will need to log back into your return and remove the child as a dependent from your return. After you do that, you two should be all set.
