I started a state return I don't need to file but already registered my free version. I selected skip filing the state but is there a penalty for just never filing?

Since I've already registered and can't delete the state return, if I never actually file the incomplete state return, will the state come after me wanting the return or is that the same as deleting it?

Registering is a security measure put in place by TurboTax. It does not trigger anything with your state regarding your return. However, you should review the helpful FAQ below to see if you need to file a state return: https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/4801660
