I started a 2023 individual tax return. How do I add my spouse so we can file together?

Did not realize we had to file at the same time and I have completed mine already and I do not want to have to restart

Hold on----are you using 2023 software? You cannot use the current online software to prepare a 2023 return. You have to use the desktop software on a full PC or Mac to prepare a 2023 return, and it has to be filed by mail.

If you haven't filed your 2023 return yet, you can still change your filing status and add your spouse in TurboTax. You can go to the "Personal Info" tab and find the option update your marital status and filing status. Then you can add his income and deductions.

If you've already filed your return, you'll need to file an amended return (Form 1040-X) to change your filing status to Married Filing Jointly and add your spouse's personal info, income, and deductions.
