Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

I somehow added a credit that I did not mean to and it dropped my owed taxes from $4,350 to $3,350. How do I remove this credit?

I have already looked through all of the credit options as far as I know. It was a random "pop-up" that had me manually enter a number. I thought I was entering the amount I could pay today, but realized at the end of filing that it had removed that amount from my balance. I just need to get that credit removed so that it does not seem as if I was trying to lie about credits.

No one can see your screen or your tax return so we do not know what you added or where you added it.  One thing to check---see if you entered an estimated amount paid that you really did not pay prior to now:

Go to Federal>Deductions and Credits>Estimates and Other Taxes Paid>Other Income Taxes

If you have federal tax due you can pay by mailing your payment with the 1040V voucher, (which has the address printed on it, having the payment taken out of a designated bank account, or you can pay directly on the IRS website.

You must pay your state tax due using the state’s preferred method of receiving payment.  For most states that will be by making a payment to the state’s own tax website, or by mailing a check or money order.

Examine your Schedule 3 to see what credits might be present that you didn't intend.  Also examine Form 1040 lines 25 through 30.
