I sell on Etsy and eBay and just got a DoR delinquent notice for sales tax. It says I have to fill out a E-500 but those sites collect taxes for me. What should I do?
The notice was called "Notice of Failure to File Return Sales and Use Tax". On the notice it gives me an option to give an "Out-of-Business Notification" but I am still selling, just not collecting the taxes myself. I spoke with the selling sites support and they confirmed that they do collect taxes. It does give me an option to file as zero tax due. Which of these options should I do?

Hi I enclose a North Caroline Sales and Use Tax Frequently Asked Questions for your reference. "Remote Sales" provides additional information.

Here is a link for Web-fill form E-500.
You might want to inquire the selling sites that they collect sales taxes on your behalf, and if the fund is remitted to various tax agencies on your behalf.
Hope the above helps.
